Description of Bostitch CPACKN80 Framing Nailer & Compressor Combo KitHere's a tough-as-nails nailer and a hardworking compressor perfect for the professional carpenter. The framing nailer has a 75-nail capacity extruded aluminum magazine that Bostitch says will survive falls, though we didn't try that for ourselves. We can tell you, though, that even though it weighs 8 pounds, it balances well and doesn't strain the user. Depth adjusts easily, and hungry toe-nailing teeth really take hold for slip-free use. It reliably fires 2- to 3-1/2-inch clipped head nails for use in framing, sheathing, siding, fencing, trusses, decking, pallets and wood to masonry. Powering this nailer is a 2.5 horse, six-gallon oil-lube compressor. At six gallons, it's not huge, but for nailers, this is plenty. We like that it's ready to use right out of the box, with all the air line and accessories you need to get started. Maintenance is important: You'll need to open the drain valves a couple times a day and oil it in the morning and at noon, and it'll serve you well.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste
Tools and Hardware Reviews of Bostitch CPACKN80 Framing Nailer & Compressor Combo KitCustomer Review: Good Value and Good Quality Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for a framing nailer combo to finish my basement because the thought of toe-nailing a few hundred linear feet of wall by hand didn't appeal to me at all (maybe I'm a wimp, I'll admit it). I originally ordered a Porter-Cable combo, but the delivery date kept getting pushed out, and after three weeks of waiting, I decided to buy this Bostitch.
I am very pleased that I did. It shipped immediately, and at the time I ordered, it came with a free cap stapler. I sold that on Amazon (sold in under 12 hours), and used the proceeds to buy a finish nailer.
I hadn't used any air tools in the past, but I found it very easy to set up and to use. Out of the box there was one fitting missing, I called Bostitch and they had one shipped to me by the next day. My project went very quickly and my sheetrocker reported that the framing was dead-on.
